We all know about the vast array of neon-drenched EDM ragers popping up these days, but hip-hop culture has far fewer festivals to call its own. From Philly’s Roots Picnic to Miami’s Rolling Loud, these trailblazing events are bringing together the scene’s hottest names and cementing the genre’s place in the festival landscape. Keep reading for five essential hip-hop festivals that should definitely be on your bucket list.



Since 2013, JMBLYA has hit the pavement every summer to bring a small, carefully curated festival featuring hip-hop’s most in-demand artists to various cities throughout Texas. This year’s charge will be led by breakout superstars Chance The Rapper, Migos, Lil Uzi Vert and others, with stops in Dallas on May 5 and Austin on May 6.

For three days in sunny Miami, Rolling Loud Festival will serve up performances by the best and most hyped figures of the genre with a lineup that’s almost too good to be true. The third installation of Rolling Loud will take place at Bayfront Park with performances by Kendrick Lamar, Future, Lil Wayne, A$AP Rocky, Young Thug, Travis Scott, Action Bronson, Run The Jewels, and many more. Black Thought, ?uestlove and the Legendary Roots Crew are Philadelphia royalty at this point, and their homegrown Roots Picnic has become a summer staple for hip hop fans throughout the region. This year’s edition has Pharrell & The Roots, Lil Wayne, 21 Savage, and many others hitting the stage, so grab your tickets now and get ready to party alongside Philly’s finest.

For one week each fall, the who’s who of hip-hop culture converges on Atlanta to perform, network, or just hang out at A3C. With industry panels and live music showcases taking place throughout the city, this expansive festival always promises more than a few surprises. A3C is a must for anyone looking to rub elbows with hip-hop’s heavy hitters, just make sure you come correct.
