BUKU Music + Art Project is a two-day celebration of New Orleans’ creative, funky subculture taking place March 10-11. Located in the city’s Warehouse District, just a short walk from the French Quarter, this unique music festival is the perfect opportunity to forget your worries, disconnect from your daily life, and immerse yourself in another world.
Nestled between an active railroad, a dilapidated power plant and the Mississippi River, the location might not sound as appealing as Cancun, but BUKU is the Spring Break getaway your friends will definitely be jealous they missed. The festival’s sixth installment features an eclectic mix of top electronic, hip-hop and indie rock acts. So whether you’re grooving to the beats in the Back Alley or headbanging in the Float Den, a Mardi Gras float manufacturing warehouse, we know you’ll find what you’re looking for at this one-of-a-kind festival.
In addition to Grizmatik, ROAR!, Run the Jewels, and Cashmere Cat on the main stages, check out what the local scene is dishing up on the Front Porch. Showcases from Saint Heron, Dohm Collective, and Techno Club are just a few names on the local lineup. If business is booming and you can afford the VIP pass, you’re in for a real treat. The S.S. BUKU, a 3-level New Orleans-style riverboat docked on the Mississippi River, will feature intimate, VIP-only performances from Ekali, Ganja White Night, Chet Porter, Andrew Luce, Pusher, and StéLouse. And if dancing with thousands of live music fans all day is still not enough, party into the early dawn at the official after parties with ZEDS DEAD and Gramatik.
Wherever you and your crew decide to post up during BUKU, remember to get lost in the experience. You wouldn’t want to miss something special. Festival organizers promise unscheduled “pop-up” performances from fire breathers, break dancers, stilt walkers, and more. Looking for Spring Break plans? Assemble the squad and head to the Big Easy for two days at what has become one of the city’s hottest music events.
