The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival known as Jazz Fest by locals, will take place April 27th through May 6th. First held in 1970, the festival will be celebrating its 49th year.
The Wall Street Journal exclaimed Jazz Fest, “showcases a wider, deeper lineup of essential American musical styles than any festival in the nation…” The festival will feature twelve unique stages including the Gospel Tent, the Blues Tent, and the Cultural Exchange Pavilion NOLA 300. Artists such as Aerosmith, Aretha Franklin, Sting, Jimmy Buffett, David Byrne, Anita Baker, Sheryl Crow, Common,LL Cool J, Bonnie Raitt, Lena Prima, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, New Orleans Gospel Soul Children, and many others will take the stage during this seven-day event.
Jazz Fest also presents the Food Heritage Stage, the Cajun Cabin Stage, and the Congo Square African Marketplace where festival goers can further experience the food, crafts, and spirit of Louisiana culture. Seven days might seem long for a festival but with so much music, food, and entertainment on tap at Jazz Fest, it may be barely enough.
