Today kicks off the first evening of Nova Scotia’s Halifax Pop Explosion, a four day event packed with music from indie hip-hop, rock, and pop favorites. Held October 19-22, this annual festival features over 150 artists, comedians and speakers throughout the city, and is known as one of Canada’s most respected festivals and showcases for presenting the best in new and innovative music from across the world.
To ensure Halifax fans get the most out of their experience, the festival boasts fewer stages than previous years, eliminating the hassle of running from venue to venue. The main stage, named The Forum MPC, will feature the festival’s headlining performances by BADBADNOTGOOD, Daniel Caesar, Hey Rosetta!, Keys N Krates, John River and more. You’ll also be able to see the rest of your favorite artists at The Marquee & Seahorse Tavern among other venues across the city.
Halifax Pop Explosion bolsters the nightly performances with one of our favorite experiences – The Zine Fair. The event offers a variety of magazines, art books, comics, posters, and small press from local and visiting independent creators. In addition to the fair, an industry conference and shows from stand-up comedians like Kyle Kinane and Sara Schaefer will also be included. If you have plans to attend and find yourself with some downtime between performances, be sure to check out what the local scene has to offer. Halifax Pop Explosion is the best way to try new bars and local favorites in the area. We’ll see you there!
