The Governors Ball is one of New York City’s largest music festivals, with over 150,000 attendees each year at the historic Randall’s Island. The 3-day festival begins June 1st, and boasts a multi-genre lineup featuring some of the biggest names in EDM, Pop, Rock, and Hip Hop.
The festival was first held at Governors Island in 2011 as a one-day event with headliners Girl Talk, Pretty Lights, and Empire of the Sun. Governors Island is only reachable by ferry, and due to the popularity of the event, the festival found a new home at Randall’s Island to better accommodate the masses attending.
2018 headliners include White Stripes rocker Jack White, Hip-hop artist and producer Travis Scott, and Detroit born rap legend Eminem. For some heavy bass check out Silk City, aka Diplo and Mark Ronson, in their first ever festival performance as a duo. Russ and Khalid will slow it down with soulful R&B jams, and Halsey will grace the stage with her electro pop vocals. Other crazy talented and unique acts to check out this year include Kelela, Tash Sultana, Sir Sly, and Middle Kids to name a few.
Beyond the music, foodies can satisfy their cravings with meals from some of the city’s trendiest vendors, like Dō, which offers cookie dough creations in cone and sandwich varieties! The park will also feature tons of outdoors activities like mini golf (with a twist), and lawn games like life-size connect four.
