For an entire week this spring, New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival will take over the Big Easy with a lineup that’s almost too long to comprehend. Featuring everyone from Stevie Wonder and Maroon 5 to Snoop Dogg, Nas, and Pitbull, this annual celebration of music is the perfect excuse for a NOLA getaway.
Taking place April 28 – May 7, New Orleans Jazz Fest has been one of the nation’s premier music festivals since making its debut in 1970. Known for their incredibly diverse lineups highlighting the best in American music and beyond, this one-of-a-kind event offers an experience like no other. This year, as fans get ready for one of the busiest festival seasons in history, the Jazz Fest organizers have upped the ante to ensure their place on everyone’s 2017 bucket list. With performances by Usher & The Roots, Tom Petty, Kings of Leon, Lorde, Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds, Alabama Shakes, Trey Anastasio Band and countless others, there’s truly something for everyone. If that isn’t enough to get you packing for a trip down south, this iconic event offers much more than just music.
No festival in New Orleans is complete without mountains of the city’s best grub and when we say mountains, we mean it. The Big Easy goes BIG when it comes to food with massive po-boys, overflowing bowls of jambalaya, and all the crawfish you can eat. Once you’re done filling up on top-notch cuisine, you can browse artisan crafts at the Congo Square African Marketplace and learn more about NOLA’s heritage at the Louisiana Folklife Village.
