5 Acts You Can’t Miss at Wonderfruit Festival


Wonderfruit Festival, a celebration of art, music, and our planet’s sustainability is gearing up for its long-awaited return to Pattaya, Thailand next week. The four-day festival takes place at The Fields in Siam Country Club February 16-19, and is definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area. Let’s be honest, there’s a plethora of new music to discover at Wonderfruit, so we’re diving into the lineup and serving up five acts you can’t miss.

 

LUSTBASS  

Representing the Philippines at Wonderfruit is downtempo artist Lustbass. The Manila-based producer has a background in multiple genres, and masterfully combines laid-back instrumentals and ambient vibes to create music for the soul. Before his solo career began, Lustbass played in a psychedelic-rock band, named Wilderness and soul group, Chocolate Grass. If you find yourself in need of a break, check out this jazzy, laid-back set.

JESS CONNELLY  

Get a refreshing take on R&B and soul from an Australian-Filipino artist making waves on the scene. The unapologetic Jess Connelly has a distinct voice and style that has turned heads throughout the Philippines and established her die-hard following. Stop by and listen to her gracefully merge her voice with light, downtempo beats. It’s the perfect background to an afternoon underneath the Bangkok sun.

RUDIMENTAL  

Renowned for their layers of brass and vocals from notable artists like Ed Sheeran over heavy hitting beats, Rudimental, the London-based four-piece drum and bass band is ready to hit the stage at The Fields. This UK band has a history of showing off their impressive chops on stage, so we expect the crowds to show up in droves for these guys. Listen to their new deep house track below before you make your way to Wonderfruit, and get ready for a live performance you won’t forget.

LIANNE LA HAVAS  

If you aren’t familiar with UK singer-songwriter Lianne La Havas, you should look her up. This British-born artist offers a folk-infused R&B sound that pairs perfectly with her hypnotizing vocals and leads you on a rollercoaster of emotions. With two critically acclaimed albums under her belt, a growing list of accolades, and nods from artists like Coldplay and music icon, Prince we don’t advise you skip this performance.

SHURA  

If pop and R&B sounds from the 80s and 90s suit your fancy, Shura’s set is the place to be. The West London-based singer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist is the talent behind electro-pop hits “Touch” and “2Shy”, and shows no sign of slowing down. The 20-something breakthrough pop star, and video editor, is a self-taught producer who began making music at the age of 13. From what we hear, she makes juggling multiple instruments look like a breeze. Get a taste of her new wave synthesized sounds and soothing vocals live at Wonderfruit on Sunday.
