Panorama is a new festival from AEG Live and Goldenvoice (the company behind Coachella) that is aiming to bring together top performers and cutting edge technology for a new and unforgettable experience. The event takes place July 22-24 on Randall’s Island in New York, the same venue where the annual Governors Ball Festival is held. The diverse lineup includes heavyweights like LCD Soundsystem, Kendrick Lamar, Major Lazer, and Arcade Fire to name a few.
This weekend, Panorama is debuting The Lab powered by HP, a 360º virtual reality theater which includes seven interactive installations combining technology, artistry, and design – all from New York based artists. Designed and curated by META.is – this interactive digital art experience is centered at the heart of the festival with a goal to create a unique community among festival attendees. For example, one exhibition titled Hyper Thread, lets participants enter in a silk-clad dome, where seven silk hammocks with cushioned seats detect your movement. As you swing, your actions modify different parts of seven songs that cycle through the experience. According to the festival organizers, “The Lab is a playground of music and technology that can only be experienced at Panorama.” Keep reading for our top 5 acts you can’t miss this weekend.
