5 Acts You Can’t Miss at A3C Festival

A3C Festival & Conference returned to Atlanta this week for its 12th consecutive year. On Friday, the conference portion will wrap up and three days of performances from hip hop’s newcomers and veterans will commence. Taking place October 7-9 at Old 4th Ward, with two stages, food trucks, live art and more, this festival has something for every type of hip hop fan. If you were lucky enough to grab a ticket, we recommend checking out the following acts.

Influenced by everything from Outkast to Bruce Springsteen, Stalley’s conceptual and lyrical style is inimitable. This Ohio-based artist began releasing mixtapes in 2008 and has since joined Rick Ross’ Maybach Music crew, cementing his place among hip hop’s next best bets. He’ll be playing twice Friday night, so you really have no excuse not to check him out.

When / Where:  Friday, October 7 at 12:30pm – Presentation Hall (Loudermilk Center) / Friday, October 7 at 4:00pm – Gears of War Main Stage (Festival Grounds)

This Inglewood, CA native started making his way into the rap game at the tender age of 14, and has since released five independent mixtapes under Los Angeles clothing and management company Peas & Carats Intl. He’s not a major star just yet, but he’s well on his way. Last year alone he released his first album Live & Grow  and tried his hand at acting in the 2015 film Dope .

When / Where:  Friday, October 7 at 11:00pm – Warehouse on Aurburn

Whether you realize it or not, Sonny Digital is one of the hottest producers in the game right now, and the man behind the notorious beats on tracks by artists like YG, Future, Wiz Khalifa, and more. At only 25 years old, Sonny Digital hasn’t earned his notoriety through a flashy endorsement, but the old-fashioned way – hard work, and it has paid off.

When / Where:  Saturday, October 8 at 10:00pm – Boost Mobile Music Room (Old 4th Ward)

Alex Wiley is a young rapper from the Southside of Chicago who released his first album Club Wiley  in May 2013. He has since followed the release with two more albums Village Party  and Village Party 2: Heaven’s Gates  which includes a guest feature from hip hop’s current indie king Chance the Rapper. Deemed Chicago’s “best kept secret” by Revolt TV, Alex Wiley is definitely someone we’ll be keeping an eye on.

When / Where:  Sunday, October 9 at 5:30pm – Gears of War Main Stage (Festival Grounds)

If you consider yourself a true Southern hip hop fan, you’re probably familiar with Atlanta-based rapper, 21 Savage. Following the rapper’s first national television performance on Monday night’s BET Hip Hop Awards and Savage Mode , his most recent project with mega producer Metro Boomin, it’s becoming increasingly clear that 2017 will be the year of The Savage. Be sure to check him out this weekend.
